Technology Awards AIST Awards and Recognition Program

The AIST Awards and Recognition Program recognizes, through peers review, the active leadership and significant contributions of individuals or companies to AIST and the global iron and steel industry.

The AIST board of directors formed an ad hoc committee in October 2003 to review the awards and recognition programs of the predecessor organizations and to make recommendations to the board for a new program for AIST. The board approved the committee’s recommendations on Aug. 12, 2004.

The following AIST Awards and Recognition Program purpose statement was approved:

“To recognize, through peer review, the active leadership and significant contributions of individuals or companies to AIST and the global iron and steel industry.”

The board approved the formation of an awards program committee as a standing committee to initially determine the selection process, place of presentation and the physical award for the 10 awards at the association level. The standing committee will then guide the selection process on an annual basis. All future additions or changes to association-level awards will require board approval.

AIST Member Chapter Awards	The AIST Member Chapter Awards program, established in 2008, recognizes an individual chapter member for their outstanding service. Individuals are recognized through peer nominations and reviewed by the Chapter Executive Committee for selection.
AIME Awards	American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) recognizes outstanding achievement in technology, research, production, development and administration through the conferring of several major achievement awards.
