Long Products Rolling Technology Committee
Past AIST Committee Activities

May 7, 2007 - The Long Products Rolling Operating Committee (LPROC) held a lunch meeting in conjunction with AISTech 2007 on May 7, 2007. Members introduced themselves, the AIST anti-trust guidelines were reviewed, and some brief announcements were provided by AIST staff. The committee also reviewed its mission statement and approved it as written. The members then provided feedback concerning the long products sessions and organization for AISTech 2008. A discussion ensued regarding the actual role of the committee in the organization and methods to improve participation in the committee’s activities. The general consensus was that the members would proceed to participate in the AISTech events and would investigate developing a training program for bar rolling personnel. The meeting concluded with election of committee officers. The new LPROC leadership will include: Robert Greuter, Verus Consulting Group, as chair, and David Light, Charter Steel, as vice chair. The leaders will meet in August to begin planning the committee’s activities for the coming year.

May 3, 2007 - The Long Products Rolling Operating Committee convened at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cleveland, Ohio, on May 3. The following were nominated and approved as the committee’s 2006–2007 officers. Members discussed topics for the committee’s round table for AISTech 2007 in Indianapolis, Ind.

May 9, 2005 - The Long Products Rolling Operating Committee met at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C., on May 9. The committee held 2005–2006 officer elections and nominated Scott Herber as Chair. Sergio Filippini was nominated as Vice Chair, and Per Munther was nominated as Papers Chair. All nominations were unanimously approved by the committee. The next meeting will be held in conjunction with the AIST Globe-Trotters Conference in October.

September 16, 2004 - The Long Products Rolling Operating Committee held their initial meeting on Sept. 16 at AISTech 2004 in Nashville, Tenn. The meeting began with an overview of the AIST organization and the committee-specific resources that are available to the members. Scott Herber of Carpenter Technology Corp. was elected as chair, and Ernesto “Ernie” Bosch of Morgårdshammer was elected Vice Chair of the committee. The AISTech 2005 paper chairs, Dennis Manley of Johnstown Corp. and Per Munther of Hatch, were also elected in preparation for the upcoming conference in Charlotte, N.C. The members discussed the elements of the Long Products Rolling Operating Committee mission statement, for which Mr. Herber and Mr. Bosch will consult with the committee to finalize. The next meeting will be held during AISTech 2005.
